It has been 279 days since Politician Abdelhamid Jlassi was arrested in connection with the case known in the media as the conspiracy case. He has been since then detained in the Civil Prison of Mornaguia without any updates on the case, whether it is about questioning or disclosing new evidence that would indict him. It is worth mentioning that the health of Abdelhamid Jlassi necessitates exceptional healthcare as he used to have cancer and needs regular monitoring. However, lately, he has experienced pain, which led to the deterioration of his health. In a testimony to Intersection Association for Rights and Freedoms, the victim’s daughter stated in the last week, the prison’s administration took her father to the hospital to receive the required treatment more than three times. On 15th August 2023, on the last call with the lawyers, she was told that her father was transferred to the hospital for a check-up. She also added that the prison conditions contributed to the decline in Abdelhamid’s health, as he shared the cell with inmates who smoke, while his state does not support that because passive smoking is hazardous for someone in his 60s and who has recently recovered from cancer. More than that, laws related to places of detention mandate the necessity to protect prisoners and offer them adequate conditions
