Ahmed Saidani is a civil activist from the delegation of Ghazala in the governorate of Bizerte. On September 13, he published a Facebook post expressing his support for municipal workers in Ghazala who had staged a protest in front of the municipality headquarters to defend their rights.

Ahmed’s page has long been critical of the local authorities and vocal about the difficult conditions in his region.

On January 11, 2023, he was contacted and informed that he was required to appear before the judiciary for questioning. In his testimony to Intersection Association, Ahmed confirmed that this followed a complaint filed by the mayor in response to the Facebook post he had published. A hearing was subsequently scheduled for April 4, 2023, before the Court of First Instance in Bizerte.
