Amer Ayad is a journalist and television host on Zitouna TV. In the latest episode of his program حصاد 24 (Harvest 24), which focuses on political affairs in Tunisia, he appeared alongside MP Abdel Latif Aloui. During the episode, Amer Ayad sharply criticized President Kais Saied and Prime Minister Najla Bouden, expressing opposition to the President’s recent decisions.

As a result, he was arrested on 3 October by order of the Public Prosecutor at the Permanent Military Court of Tunis and was kept in detention until 5 October 2021. A detention warrant was then issued against him by the Second Investigating Judge at the Military Court, and he was charged with several offenses, including incitement to disobedience and committing an offense against the President of the Republic, according to his lawyer.
