It warns of the dangers of continuing down this path, which undermines the foundations of the rule of law. The Association holds the authorities fully responsible for the serious consequences that such decisions may have on the human rights and freedoms environment in the country.

Intersection Association stresses that the Tunisian League for Human Rights is not merely a civil society organization. It represents one of the foremost pillars of Tunisia’s human rights movement, with a long history of struggle against authoritarianism, defending rights and freedoms, and standing up for victims of human rights violations. Targeting the League today therefore constitutes a direct attack on a fundamental pillar of democratic life and an assault on a national achievement built through the sacrifices of generations of human rights defenders.

While renewing its principled and unconditional solidarity with the Tunisian League for Human Rights and with all targeted organizations and associations, Intersection Association calls for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the suspension decision. It further calls for an end to all policies and measures targeting civil society organizations, an end to interference in their affairs, respect for the independence of human rights organizations, and the rejection of all forms of oversight, control, or domination over their work.

Intersection Association emphasizes the urgent need to halt the systematic targeting of civil society actors, end the climate of intimidation, and ensure a genuine environment in which rights and freedoms are respected, as guaranteed by the Constitution and international human rights instruments. It also calls for the opening of civic space without restrictions, as a fundamental prerequisite for any democratic state—not merely a slogan for political consumption.

Finally, Intersection Association calls on all components of civil society, national organizations, and all forces defending rights and freedoms to stand together in support of the Tunisian League for Human Rights and strengthen practical solidarity with it in the face of this targeting, in order to protect civic space, preserve its independence, and counter all attempts to undermine it.

[295
231
232
238
post-9190","violations","type-violations","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","ecupation-association","case_status-231","governorate-tunis","violation_type-restrictions-on-civil-activity
["GET
